Interview with Margaret Rhasoda Varga, UCCM guru and lead-master (2010)

Margit and I have known each other for years, although I met her first not on a spiritual line. We went through many external and internal struggles together. I had heard about the formation of UCCM and, although I am not involved in any way at the moment, I was very happy when the idea of this interview came up and the opportunity to ask some questions. So, let's get started:

- What is this movement, if you could sum it up in one sentence, what is its purpose?
- If I could just say one sentence, I would say that we want to help people to live their everyday lives with spiritual awareness.

- There are many organizations that have a similar goal. Yet nothing has changed. What makes you think that this movement will be the one that will have a breakthrough result?
- I think a lot of things have changed... There is a law that describes the transformation of quantitative change into qualitative one. We never know if this Movement will be the link that will trigger qualitative change. On the other hand, we want to base our activities on small communities.

- I have always admired you for your ability to synthesize views that others would consider incompatible. How do you reconcile, for example, science with spirituality?
- I see no contradiction.  Spirituality requires the highest level of philosophical thinking. The confusion comes from the fact that people have been given the essence of it on the lowest level, so many have been dismissive of it as worthless, and for others even that was too much.

- Do you mean that it has become fashionable to go to mediums, ghost-seers, etc., or to consult fortune-teller?
- What I mean is that, just as there are many excellent drinks made from grapes, and everyone can choose according to their taste and temperament, so spirituality has many essences, but I think everyone agrees with me that grape must in fermentation is completely unenjoyable. This is the spiritual cleansing process that UCCM aims to contribute to.

- I know you have had many spiritual trainings, many initiations, but what was the defining experience that gave you the idea to start this Movement and become its leader?
- Do you mean that there are many self-proclaimed prophets and where can I place myself?

- Many people might have such a thought...
- One can be self-proclaimed and consider oneself chosen.  In reality, however, it is not what you think of yourself or what people think of you, but what you do with your sense of mission.

- Can you elaborate a little more on that?
- One can serve one's own self-interest or a higher consciousness, say God. If one is serving a higher purpose, one is definitely leading oneself and others towards a more comprehensive, integrated, harmonious Oneness. In other words, it is the purity of service that can lead one out of the self-proclaimed or chosen roles.

- I see. But please, would you answer the question! So, the question is, what was the experience based on...
- The cessation of ego-consciousness' continuity.

- ???
- The experience of Atman consciousness, which went along with the cessation of ego-consciousness continuity. The cessation of the ego-consciousness means the erasure of the ego-program.

- What path does UCCM represent? I know that you teach and follow many different religions and philosophies, but how does this become a unified, harmonious world view for the individual?
- I represent (and we represent) the inner path to self-realization and God-realization, whereby the individual chooses for him/herself from the available philosophical knowledge the elements that will guide him/her along this path, i.e. builds his/her own worldview under the supervision of a master. This allows for a completely individual training. On the other hand, anyone can become a master when he has reached a certain level of consciousness and can create his own community. These small communities can become cells that help each other and others.

- And does everyone achieve the same goal?
- No, everyone is realizing their own inner program. Furthermore, they can modify this inner program at will (considering their individual talents and potential) with the help of the master teachers and guides.

- What does it take to follow this path? I mean what kind of talents?
- I myself work on the principle of cosmic love and cosmic tolerance, in this sense I try to impose as few conditions as possible. But there are two: effort, if you don't try, you can't go forward; receptiveness, you can't put water in a full vessel; the other necessary capacities are developed. Of course, the more you have by default, the faster you will achieve results.

- What about faith and knowledge?
- Both can be a way forward and a hindrance...

Interview with Margaret Rhasoda-Varga, UCCM's head-master (2014)

- The reason of our current meeting is the completion of your latest book, which is the sequel to the previous one. Can you tell us a bit about it?
- Yes. The book is called The Art of Living Life. When I wrote the first volume, The Way to Awareness and Happiness, I started from the premise that everyone wants to be happy, yet very few people can say that they have achieved it. I wrote about what I see as the source of happiness. As the title suggests, in the development of awareness. Because when a person understands why things happen to him/her in life, he/she does not resist his/her fate, he/she accepts it, and he/she has already taken the first step towards change. And in writing the second part, "Change of mindset equals a higher quality of life", I was motivated by helping people to take the steps that lead to happiness. A change of mindset is essential to change our destiny. Why this is so is explained in the book.

- Both are freely downloadable from the internet. Why did you decide to do this?
- I want to bring it to as many people as possible, and the internet seems to be the right place to do that. I already have published books. My experience is that print publishing is not the solution to reach as many people as possible. It depends on distribution, and that is not solved. For me, the money invested has not been returned, and the shops have not even done to put the book on the shelf in return for a 100 per cent margin. This is not a cooperative attitude. That is why nothing works as it should in Hungary. The attitude is the problem. We should decide what does this country want? To rise or to disappear into the abyss? I have been in many countries, I have worked in two ones. I dare to say that the general attitude in Hungary today is that there is no way to rise.

- What is the essence of this approach?
- There are several components. I would rather talk about how to change it. It should be realized that to rise, in any field, you have to raise your environment. If one tramples down one's environment, one will not rise, but sink, together with one's environment. You don't have to be a genius to see that. Every human being knows this, most people are basically benevolent, yet in a situation that is critical for them, they act out of a wrong mind pattern. It takes a higher consciousness to override that pattern in people.

- Who are you aiming your books at?
- Basically, for people with spiritual interests.

- Why? You raise many issues that could be of much more general interest.
- I've been confronted with this several times. When I first wanted to publish my poems, the opinion was that if I used my poetic talent to work on secular themes, all doors would open for me. On the contrary, I "waste" my talent on glorifying God! A waste indeed, isn't it? That's what I said then. Everyone can only give what one has. That's what I have. If I did something else, and in a different way, I would no longer be me, and I would no longer be authentic. That's the personal side. The other side is that I want to help people who choose spiritual development. They have a double task. On the one hand, they have to find their place in life, to create the conditions for their life, and on the other hand, they have to move on their own path towards Oneness. Let to make it easier for them to raise the funds to develop faster. Otherwise, everything that enters the emotional-mental sphere of a country is a common treasure, from which it can be drawn at any time for anyone who opens up to it. 

- May I ask you a personal question?
- We have agreed that there are no awkward questions, no taboo subjects. I strive that every moment of my life can be undertaken in public.

- Could you find a question which is embarrassing for you?
- No. 

- Then I would ask, how can you achieve that?
- What makes a topic awkward? Because the person reacts to it with an emotional charge. One has unprocessed emotions about the subject. These are emotional fault points in the astral-mental body. If talking partner instinctively touches them, one reacts with confusion or anger. The astral-mental body is created as a projection of the mind. So, by becoming aware of the mind, mistakes can be corrected, eliminated.

- This is as if someone can't be influenced...
- It can't be influenced by manipulation. It's the fault points, in the personality, that make people manipulable. This is the basis of emotional blackmail...

- If I know well the third volume of the series is ready. Can we know anything about that?
- Yes, the third volume of the book is called Spiritual Self-knowledge. It is the textbook of the UCCM Spiritual Self-knowledge Training. It is only available to participants.

- Why?
- People tend to think that what they have read they know. In the exam, of course, they are confronted with the fact that they don't. There are exams in life, and the price for failing is much heavier than for failing at school. The first step in cognition process is to acquire knowledge, for example by reading something. Then comes learning (memorizing), followed by understanding. Another mistake what people make is to try to understand with their mind what is not yet in the mind. How would be this possible? Imagine that a computer is given the task of adding two numbers together, while the numbers are not put in to the computer. So, first you have to learn the material, put it into the mind, and only then can you understand it. This is followed by integration, i.e. comparison with the memory content already present, and then higher understanding. And the final step is application. Only applied knowledge can be called knowledge. If I were to publish the third volume, people would stop at the first level of cognition and then say, well, I didn't get anywhere with that either. I have to get them to enter to the training somehow, to take them through this process of cognition.

- There was a word, UCCM, can we find out something about that?
- UCCM stands for Universal Christ Consciousness Movement. It is a spiritual and lifestyle movement. Anyone can be a follower, and anyone who commits to living according to the UCCM spirit can be a master. You can find out more about the community on the UCCM website or on Facebook.

- What are your plans for the future?
- I think I've written down everything I want to share with the public. The rest of what I write is for the internal discipleship of community. But it is not excluded that they will be published later. This world is driven by the law of effect and counter-effect. Now I have started an effect, much depends on what the repercussion will be.

- Can we expect to be able to discuss further topics in this form?
- You are welcome. Find a topic that people might be interested in.

- Finally, please summarize your statement of faith.
- If one understands that the essence of creation is the putting of energy into an external object that was first created internally, one knows that nothing can be lost or appropriated, and anything can be created. The question is whether, having realized this, one still intends to create, knowing that it is nothing but a game with oneself. If so, ones only motivation is love and to share oneself with those who have not yet attained this awareness.
